Windows Movie Maker Profiles

February 12, 2008 – 11:41 am

Im a keen fan of Windows Movie Maker but since upgrading (i use that term lightly) to Vista one thing that has really annoyed me is the lack of .prx Profiles for smaller video sizes, the default profiles are great if you want to create HD videos etc but personally i like converting my camcorder clips into a nice size for friends and family to view on thier home computers.

After spending some time searching the internet about the Moviemaker profiles i found many resources offering detailed instructions on creating your own profiles easily using the free Windows Media Encoder, but i didnt find many example profiles ready to install so had to create my own.

The moviemaker profiles are stored here <Drive>:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\Profiles

If the Profiles folder does not exist, create it.

You can download my ready made Movie Maker PRX Profiles below, i hope these will be of help to other moviemaker users in my position.

  3. Just fantastic! I have never said this to a complete stranger and I haven’t even seen you beforehand, but I love you! I love you! This is a tremendous help!
